Speeeak vs. WhatsApp voice message
Link instead of chat attachment:
the comparison.
WhatsApp is unbeatable for voice messages between friends. But as soon as the number is missing, the other side doesn’t use the messenger, or you’d rather keep the message in your own hands, a link is the better form.

Where the two differ
In the messenger both sides need the app and each other’s phone number. A Speeeak link works wherever text fits: e-mail, dating profile, contact form, SMS – and yes, in a WhatsApp chat too.
A sent voice message sits in the other person’s chat. “Delete for everyone” only works for two days. The Speeeak link has a delete link with no deadline and expires on its own.
Customers, applicants, prospects: you don’t give everyone your private number. With a link you speak personally – without a chat staying open afterwards.
The table
| Speeeak link | WhatsApp voice message (as of October 2026) | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | Free without an account; Plus from €4.90/month | Free with the app |
| Account / number needed? | No, on neither side | Yes, both sides need the app and the phone number |
| Reply by voice | Yes, via the listen link | Yes, in the same chat |
| Website widget | Yes, from the free account | No, voice messages only in the chat |
| Landing pages | From Plus (1), Pro 5 with lead form | No |
| Server location / GDPR | EU; data processing agreement in one click for website operators | Not assessed here |
| Transcript | From Plus (30 minutes/month), for the sender | On the recipient’s device, if they switch it on |
| Delete link / expiry | Delete link any time; expires after 7 days (no account) to 1 year (Business) | “Delete for everyone” within two days; disappearing messages optionally after 24 hours, 7 or 90 days |
Fair is fair: in the messenger a voice message is one tap, the reply comes in seconds, and almost everyone has the app. For family, friends and ongoing conversations that stays the shortest route. The link is for everything else.

When the link is the better choice
- No number exchange: first contacts in dating apps, replies to ads, enquiries from strangers – you stay reachable without revealing yourself.
- The other side has no messenger: older relatives, business contacts, customers abroad. A link plays in any browser.
- You want it gone again: click the delete link, file gone. No two-day window, no trace in someone else’s chat.
- It’s business: voice card in the e-mail, landing page with logo and buttons, messages from your website in your inbox.
How it works with Speeeak
- Record. On speeeak.io press the mic, talk, stop. Listen, then “Create link”. No account, no app.
- Paste the link. Copy it to wherever your message should go – even into a chat if you like. With Plus as a short link.
- Hear the reply. A reply button sits under your message. The other side speaks back, you hear it via the link or in your account.
Frequently asked questions
Does the other side see my number or e-mail address?
No. The listen page shows the message and a name you enter yourself – or none at all.
Can I send the Speeeak link via WhatsApp too?
Yes. A link is text. The difference: the file isn’t in the chat but at Speeeak – with delete link and expiry date.
How long is the message available?
Without an account 7 days, Plus and Pro 90 days, Business 1 year. After that it’s gone. Before that, any time via the delete link.
What does it cost?
Recording without an account is free: up to 2 minutes, 7 days. Plus (€4.90/month) has 5 minutes, 90 days, short links and transcription.
