How to
Add a voice message
to an e-mail.
An e-mail can’t play a voice message – but it can carry a link. With Speeeak you record in the browser and paste a voice card into the e-mail: an image with a play button, your link behind it. The recipient clicks and hears you.
Why not just attach the MP3?
An audio file is big, gets stuck in spam filters and needs the right player on the phone. A link opens a page that plays in the browser – everywhere.
An image with a play button stands out in a text e-mail. Whoever clicks lands on your listen page: no ads, no distraction, just your voice.
A reply button sits under your message. The recipient speaks back, no account. You don’t have to hope for a reply e-mail.
Step by step
- Record. On speeeak.io press the mic, talk, stop. Listen, re-record if needed, then “Create link”. Or upload a finished audio file.
- Copy the voice card. Every message comes with a voice card: an image with a play button. Copy image and link, or just the link – depending on whether your e-mail client allows images.
- Paste it into the e-mail. Put the voice card where the long paragraph would otherwise be. One sentence before it (“I recorded this for you quickly:”), done. The recipient clicks and listens in the browser.
Tip: Still write two lines of text in the e-mail – what it’s about and how long the message is (“50 seconds”). People who know what to expect click more readily.
This works in any e-mail you write anyway: following up on an offer, answering an application, thanking customers after a purchase, giving colleagues feedback. You speak for a minute instead of drafting for ten – and the recipient hears how you mean it.
Privacy: what the recipient sees and what not
- No data in the attachment: the e-mail contains only an image and a link, no audio file that gets forwarded and stored.
- Servers in the EU: the recording sits on servers in the EU, reachable only via the link.
- Delete link: you can delete the message any time – even if the e-mail went out long ago. The link then leads nowhere.
- Fixed term: without an account 7 days, Plus and Pro 90 days, Business 1 year. After that the file is gone.
- No tracking on the listen page: no ads, no third-party scripts. With an account you see whether it was played – nothing more.
Frequently asked questions
Does the voice card work in every e-mail client?
The image shows if the client allows images – Outlook, Gmail, Apple Mail and most webmail do. If not, the link remains. That’s why you paste both.
Can the recipient reply without an account?
Yes. A reply button sits under the message. They speak, send, done. The reply comes to you – with an account, into your inbox.
Does it work for mailings or newsletters?
Yes, the link is the same for all recipients. With Plus you get a short link and a landing page with your logo and up to four buttons underneath, with Pro five landing pages with lead form.
What does it cost?
Recording without an account is free: up to 2 minutes, available 7 days. Plus (€4.90/month) has 5 minutes, 90 days, short links and transcription.
